    To open a bank account, you need to provide proof of identity. Acceptable documents include:

    - Ghana Card (ECOWAS Card)
    - Passport
    - Driver's License
    - Work ID Card (with an introductory letter from your employer)
    - School ID Card (with an introductory letter from your institution)
    - Voter Identification Card
    - SSNIT Biometric Card

    Application Process:

    Fill out the bank's KYC application form. A Customer Service Officer or Relations Manager will advise you on any additional documents required based on the product or service.

    Basic requirements for individuals:

    - Legal name and any other names used (e.g., maiden name)
    - Permanent address (provide full address; PO boxes are not sufficient), with nearby landmarks
    - Telephone number, fax number, and email address
    - Date of birth
    - Nationality
    - Occupation, public position held, and employer's name
    - For students: an introductory letter from the institution signed by the head or representative and a student ID card
    - Type of account and nature of banking relationship
    - Signature
    - Any additional information required by the bank

    Basic requirements for institutions:

    - Name of the institution
    - Principal place of business operations
    - Mailing address
    - Contact telephone and fax numbers
    - Original or certified copy of regulations, business registration, and commencement of business
    - Board resolution to open an account and identification of authorized operators
    - Nature and purpose of business and its legitimacy
    - Website addresses (if any)
    - Email addresses of the directors/signatories of the accounts

  • How do I Deposit Money?


    You can deposit money using any of the following methods:

    - Cash
    - Cheque
    - Paying-in slips
    - ATM cards
    - Mobile banking application
    - Internet banking platform
    - USSD platform

    These convenient options make it easy to manage your deposits securely and efficiently.

  • How do I Withdraw Money from My account?


    You can withdraw money using any of the following methods:

    - Completing a withdrawal form at the bank
    - Using a cheque leaflet for cash withdrawal
    - Issuing cheques to creditors for cash or through clearing at the Central Bank
    - By email
    - Using ATM cards
    - Through the mobile banking application
    - Via the Internet banking platform
    - Using the USSD platform
    - Providing written instructions to the branch to transfer funds to a third-party account

    These methods offer flexibility and convenience for managing your withdrawals.

  • How much does a bank account cost?

    - Savings Account: Generally, there are no fees, though some subscribed services may attract charges.
    - Current Account: A commission on turnover (COT) is charged on the debit turnover of your account over a period.
    - Overdrawn Balances: Attract interest.
    - ATM Withdrawals: Fees are charged.
    - Special Services: Fees apply for services such as money transfers and special cheque clearing.
    - Returned Cheques: Attract a commission.
    - Issuance of Dud Cheques: Penalties apply; it is a criminal offence and can lead to prosecution. Frequent offences (about 3 cheques in a quarter) may result in account closure for a year.

  • How do I voluntarily close an account?


    To close your account, you are required to give a week's notice. Note that this requirement may vary from bank to bank. There is no fee for closing an account.
