Proof of Identity:
To open a bank account, you need to provide proof of identity. Acceptable documents include:
- Ghana Card (ECOWAS Card)
- Passport
- Driver's License
- Work ID Card (with an introductory letter from your employer)
- School ID Card (with an introductory letter from your institution)
- Voter Identification Card
- SSNIT Biometric Card
Application Process:
Fill out the bank's KYC application form. A Customer Service Officer or Relations Manager will advise you on any additional documents required based on the product or service.
Basic requirements for individuals:
- Legal name and any other names used (e.g., maiden name)
- Permanent address (provide full address; PO boxes are not sufficient), with nearby landmarks
- Telephone number, fax number, and email address
- Date of birth
- Nationality
- Occupation, public position held, and employer's name
- For students: an introductory letter from the institution signed by the head or representative and a student ID card
- Type of account and nature of banking relationship
- Signature
- Any additional information required by the bank
Basic requirements for institutions:
- Name of the institution
- Principal place of business operations
- Mailing address
- Contact telephone and fax numbers
- Original or certified copy of regulations, business registration, and commencement of business
- Board resolution to open an account and identification of authorized operators
- Nature and purpose of business and its legitimacy
- Website addresses (if any)
- Email addresses of the directors/signatories of the accounts
